Iro Haarla Quintet and Timo Lassy Band tour Northern America in June 2008! Print E-mail
Two top Finnish jazz acts, Iro Haarla Quintet and Timo Lassy Band will perform in the United States, at Rochester International Jazz Festival. The festival, taking place in 13-21 June, features a concert series titled 'Nordic Jazz Now', which will present jazz bands from North of Europe. 'Nordic Jazz Now' is a long-term cooperation by Nordic countries; the coordinator for the Finnish participation is Fimic. Funding of this music export project comes from several Nordic music organizations and the Nordic Culture Fund.

Iro Haarla is the winner of Yrjö Award 2006! Print E-mail

The Finnish Jazz Federation has granted its annual Yrjö Award to composer, musician Iro Haarla (b. 1956). The award was handed out at the National Jazz Days in Savonlinna on November 18.
